How the telmed model works
The telmed model is an alternative form of basic health insurance. Before you visit a doctor, you start by obtaining advice over the telephone from a telemedical advice centre such as . In return, you pay a lower premium.
Initial point of contact:
if you have a health problem, choose where to go first: , GP practice or partner pharmacy. If you are ill, you must contact this first. After the consultation, you are free to choose your doctor.
Quick advice:
with the additional, free service , you can also ask questions using the chat feature. Doctors will reply to you quickly.
Referral to specialists:
a partner pharmacy or your GP practice refers you to specialists.
Emergency care:
you don’t need a referral in an emergency. Simply visit a hospital emergency department.

1. Check your symptoms:
If you are ill, contact , your GP practice or a partner pharmacy.
2. Select your treatment steps:
, your GP practice or your partner pharmacy will give you comprehensive advice and coordinate all further steps of your treatment.
- To visit a specialist, you need a referral.
- If necessary, you can visit a hospital emergency department. You don’t need a referral for this.
3. Order medication:
You can order medication from the online pharmacy Zur Rose or visit any pharmacy.
4. Check your treatment plan:
Discuss your treatment plan with , your GP practice or your .
What basic health insurance covers
