What the insurance covers

Income protection insurance protects your income should you fall ill or have an accident. You choose the model, daily allowance amount and waiting period you require.

Indemnity insurance model
Ideal for employees: receive a daily allowance corresponding to the amount of your lost earnings.

The amount will be calculated based on your wage before the illness or accident.
Fixed-sum insurance model
Ideal for self-employed persons: you receive a fixed daily allowance irrespective of specific lost earnings.

This variant is also suitable for people who manage a household. The maximum daily allowance with this option is CHF 100.
Daily allowance amount and length of waiting period
You determine your daily allowance amount and the waiting period.

Whether you choose indemnity or fixed-sum insurance, you decide on your daily allowance amount – up to a maximum of CHF 600 per day.

You also choose a waiting period of between 2 days and one year. The shorter the waiting period and higher the daily allowance covered, the higher the premium.

Which waiting period should I choose?

For employees, this will depend on how long your employer pays your full salary in the event of illness or an accident – and how long you can manage with less money than usual.

Self-employed persons and people without a fixed salary should consider how long they can continue without an income.

The longer the waiting period, the lower the premium. You can choose between: 2, 7, 14, 21, 30, 60, 90, 120, 150, 180, 270 and 360 days.
