This supplementary insurance offers a monthly pension if your child is diagnosed with cancer, helping to relieve some of the financial pressure. You choose the amount of the pension and the duration of payments. The plus factor: you are free to choose how to spend the money – for additional help at home and to spend more time with your family.

Child insurance in a nutshell

Teddy child insurance offers a monthly pension, enabling you to focus completely on your sick child without any financial worries.

No limits:
with child insurance, you are free to choose how you spend the pension – for treatment costs, help at home or more time with the family.
You choose:
you have 3 options to choose from:
CHF 2,000 per month for 12 months.
CHF 4,000 per month for 12 months.
CHF 4,000 per month for 24 months.
No forfeits:
you keep the entire pension even if your child returns to health before the end of the pension period. The full pension is also paid out in the event of death.
No health check:
you can insure any child up to the age of 17 – provided they have not had a cancer diagnosis before you take out the insurance.
An exceptional offer:
KPT is one of only a handful of insurers in Switzerland to offer child insurance with a pension following a cancer diagnosis.

With supplementary hospital insurance Flex Top, your child can choose, before each hospital stay, whether they want to stay on a general, semi-private or private ward. And if you wish to accompany your child for the duration of their stay, we will cover a proportion of the associated costs.

Frequently asked questions

What conditions of acceptance apply for child insurance?

You can insure any child up to the age of 17 without a health check – provided they have not had cancer diagnosis before you take out the insurance. The insurance covers the child.

What is considered a cancer diagnosis?

Child insurance pays out if your child gets cancer. The insurance pays a pension for malignant tumours and also if your child is diagnosed with leukaemia or lymphoma.

It also provides financial assistance if your child has a benign tumour and requires surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy or immunotherapy.

Important: the cancer diagnosis must be made by an oncologist or haemato-oncologist.

When does the child insurance end?

The child insurance ends in the following cases:

At the end of the year in which your child turns 18, unless they have cancer and are already receiving benefits.
Once the full pension has been paid out.
You and your child are no longer resident in Switzerland.

What should you do if your child is diagnosed with cancer?

The first step is to request the medical report from your child’s oncologist (cancer specialist) or haematologist (blood specialist) as soon as possible.
Complete the online form and upload the medical report. You can also print, sign and post the form to us with the report enclosed.

Please note: If we receive the form and necessary documents by the 20th of the month, we shall pay the monthly benefit from the start of the following month. If, for example, we receive the form on 19 July, you will start receiving the monthly benefit from the start of August.
