Health insurance tax statement

The tax statement includes the premiums that you have paid. It also shows which costs KPT has covered and which proportion you have paid yourself. This document enables you to provide evidence of your health expenditure for your tax return. The plus factor: the tax statement is also available on the KPTnet customer portal.

The tax statement in a nutshell

Your tax statement summarises your premiums, benefits and co-payments. We explain the most important details here:

1 Premiums
These are the premiums that you have paid (after all discounts and reductions).
2 Deductible
The that you have actually paid. The amount may be higher than your agreed . This is because we record the details based on the billing date and not the service provider’s bill date.

Example: you went to your doctor in December 2024, but the insurance only receives the bill in January 2025. This expenditure is therefore attributed to 2025 and not 2024.
3 Excess
The may be greater than the statutory limit of CHF 700. This is because we record the details based on the billing date and not the service provider’s bill date.
4 Hospital contribution
If you were hospitalised, we will provide details of the . If not, CHF 0 will appear here.
5 Non-covered benefits
These are costs that your supplementary insurance does not cover in full or at all. These expenses are paid by you.

Example: you have semi-private hospital insurance, but choose to stay on a private ward while in hospital. The additional costs incurred are classed as non-covered benefits and listed under this item.
6 Non-statutory benefits
Basic health insurance and supplementary insurance do not cover these benefits. You must pay for them yourself.

Example: basic health insurance does not cover the cost of non-medically required cosmetic surgery; this is a non-statutory benefit.

Important: have you paid for medication yourself or submitted bills to another insurer? These amounts will not appear on the tax statement.

Why are costs missing from my tax statement?KPT lists your costs based on the billing date and not the service provider’s bill date. As a result, costs from the previous year may sometimes only appear on the following year’s tax statement.
