The Board of Directors of KPT
The KPT Board of Directors comprises experienced professionals from a range of industries. These ensure that KPT remains successful and innovative.
KPT is one of the ten largest health insurers in Switzerland. Around 700 employees offer the 500,000 people insured with KPT what they really need: outstanding value for money and maximum customer satisfaction. As a cooperative, KPT is a socially responsible organisation.
The following people are responsible for KPT’s strategy and take a foresighted approach to guiding the company in the right direction:
Walter Bosshard (1965, management consultant) has worked in the healthcare sector for many years, primarily in the field of management consultancy. Hospitals, cantonal health departments, federal authorities and insurers regularly call upon his expertise in hospital planning, tariffs and management. He has been a member of the KPT Board of Directors since 2013 and its Chair since April 2020.
Walter Bosshard is a member of both the Nomination and Remuneration Committee and the Investment Committee.
Andreas Fischer (1966, business economist and chartered financial analyst) is an experienced finance and insurance specialist. He has worked at Zurich in various roles since 2009 and has been Chief Investment Officer and a member of the Management Board of Zurich Switzerland since 2018. Prior to moving to the insurance industry in 2009, he held several managerial positions at national and international banks. He has been a member of the KPT Board of Directors since April 2022 and its Vice-Chair since March 2024.
Andreas Fischer is Chair of both the Nomination and Remuneration Committee and the Investment Committee.
Peter Delfosse (1966, controller and postgraduate diploma in Management, Executive MBA, Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts) has many years of experience in operational and strategic company transformations and digitalisation initiatives. As CEO of the Axon Group, he is responsible for the strategic orientation of Axon shareholdings. With extensive experience as a CEO and Board of Directors member in various industries, he is regarded as an expert in digital transformation. He was appointed as a member of the KPT Board of Directors in April 2025.
Peter Delfosse is Chair of the Transformation Board and a member of both the Audit and Risk Committee and the Nomination and Remuneration Committee.
Franziska König (1973, Master’s in Environmental Sciences ETHZ; IMD High Performance Leadership) is a health expert with particular focus on the strategic development of products and services. She is currently Head of Health Services at Galenica Group. Prior to this role, she spent several years in various leadership positions at a Swiss health insurance company. She has been a member of the KPT Board of Directors since April 2026.
Franziska König is a member of both the Nomination and Remuneration Committee and the Transformation Board.
Hanspeter Schmidli (1963, mathematician) has been a Professor of Stochastics and Actuarial Mathematics at the University of Cologne’s Institute of Mathematics since 2004 and is a liaison lecturer for the German Association of Actuaries (DAV). He studied mathematics at ETH Zurich and has performed research roles at various universities. He has been a member of the KPT Board of Directors since 2013.
Hanspeter Schmidli is a member of both the Audit and Risk Committee and the Transformation Board.
Andrea Weber (1988, business economist and chartered alternative investment analyst) is a financial expert. She is currently Chief Investment Officer Wealth Management and Investment Director at the independent multi-family office Verium. She is also a member of the Board of Trustees. Prior to this, she spent many years in various positions at a well-known bank and an insurance firm. She has been a member of the KPT Board of Directors since April 2023.
Andrea Weber is Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee and a member of the Investment Committee.
Carsten Witzmann (1970, lawyer and Executive MBA, UZH) has been at KPT since 2000 – initially as Head of the Legal Service and since 2022 as General Counsel. He has an CAS MedLaw from the University of Zurich and publishes on specialist issues relating to health insurance law.
Carsten Witzmann was appointed Secretary of the Board of Directors in 2017.
