If you fall ill as a holder of EU/EFTA health insurance and receive treatment in Switzerland, always proceed as follows:
1. Check your symptoms:
Visit a doctor of your choice in Switzerland.
2. Select your treatment steps:
Choose the appropriate treatment steps depending on the situation:
- Consult your doctor.
- Visit a specialist in Switzerland.
- Go to a hospital emergency department in Switzerland. You can only go to hospital directly in the event of an emergency. In all other cases, you need a doctor’s referral.
3. Order medication:
Purchase medication from any pharmacy in Switzerland.
4. Check your treatment plan:
Discuss your treatment plan with your general practitioner (GP) or another medical specialist.
